Yesterday mowing the lawn for the first time, After mowing for about an hour my 265 started spitting and sputtering and died in fairly thin grass. After we let it sit for a few minutes, it started back up and ran fine and we were able to finish. It did the same thing last fall the last time I mowed but I think I ran out of gas then and replaced the fuel filter and it seemed to run fine then. I'm thinking I may have an ignition problem but I really don't know where to start.HJ

I probably should be a little more specific. It's a JD 265 with a Kawasaki engine. and so far it's only done it after running for an hour or more.HJ

it could be many things but do the obvious first check the points condition, second try adjusting the carb, one of these should cure your problem. hope this helps
