Went to look at a Cub Cadet for sale, supposedly only two owners - hardly used, very good condition..... ....Welllll llll, got there, did not start, supposedly frozen fuel (45-50 degrees out), fuel was sprayed all over engine compartment and owner had two space heaters working, one on the engine compartment and one if front - after being very cautious and standing back looked it over - repainted, all tags painted over, no model numbers - supposedly 1988-1990 model with 18 Hp Kohler and Hydro trans. Noticed red paint under transmission. Did not start the unit due to gas being all over engine compartment, but did see gas in fuel filter. Light switch missing and fuse gone out of holder. Foot rest to fender bend cracked and supports welded to prevent them from breaking off. Looks like electric lift for deck, deck was repainted, no rust throughs, one spindle loose.

Can any tell me how to confirm model number as I am guessing? What to look for on this machine? Real cautious as the fuel was supposedly spraying all over before I got there, all hoses appeared whole.

Thanks, Jim

That thing sounds like it was used hard and put away wet more than once. Personally, I'd stay away from it.
