OK, so I went and picked up my parts tractor and now have a few questions.

First off, I have the base of two decent tractor, so now I'm wondering which I should use. The first one which runs is a serial # 55280, the second non-running machine is in the 22000 range (sorry, didn't write it down). The second machine (the older one) has some issues, like the steering is shot, the dash and column is in pretty lousy shape. The thing is it also has lights, and it's set up with the "3 point hitch" (for lack of a better term). So what would you guys do, rob the 55280 to fix the 2200 (engine, steering, column/dash etc), or vise versa?

Also, something that has me a bit confused it on the 22000 there's something extra installed, so bear with me as I try to explain in. if your sitting on the machine and look straight down there's a hole. On my 55280 you can see clear through, but on the 22000 the hole has been enlarged, and there's been something installed. It's looks like a leaver is supposed to be coming up through the hole, but it's been broke off. Looking underneath the machine I can see that there's a cast box that's looks like it's connected to the tranmitions. Any ideas what it is?

Oh, and 22000 came with the mounting bracket for a Brawlo (sorry, something like that) plow, if that helps out at all.

And just to add a little more fun to the pot, a friend know where there's another orig. cub, w/o engine that I might be able to get for free!

Thanks,

mk

I agree, get the third Original and make 2 out of 3, taking the lowest SNs of the three to do it.

The cast handle for the Danco creeper unit is hard to find and is NLA as a new part. You might try travis@ihcubcadet.com. He was toying with the idea of making some up, I dunno if he ever got it done.

To find a handle separate from the creeper unit in good shape is practically impossible, but it can be done with patience. I did it. Keep turning over rocks.

Heck, with your luck the third one will be loaded with options, too, for free!

MK If you are being serious with us and Really got a CCO with headlights,Fenders,3 point and creeper for $250 you probabley got the best darn deal I have ever heard about. You are one luckey person.
Short answer restore them both. Get the junker from your friend. Keep your first one running and carefully restore the low number one with the options Later A. Gonya

Well, I'm happy to hear I was for once lucky. :)

Anyway, So if I do have a creeper, does anyone know of a place I might find the lever that goes with it (as mine is broken)?

I'm going to start breaking down the low serial cub soon (maybe tomorrow) and see what I have on m hands. The engine turns over by hand, but it's missing the choke cable, and the air filter (not sure where I can find one of those). I might just pull the engine off the newer cub and use that to keep this project going.

Sounds like I'm in for some fun!

MK, If the engine is free (Turns Over) you are probably OK. Some of these CC's I've played with must have set for years But still fire right up after a carb rebuild. Once you get it running, if it puts out blue smoke plan on a rebuild. If by air filter you mean the whole oil bath assembley drop john an E-mail at Ajlawn1@aol.com he has at least a dozen original parts cubs, he might be able to help you on the lever too. Later, A.G.

i would fix the cub with the early serial #. That thing that is attached to the tranny is a creeper attachment. They are pretty hard to find. It reduces the ground speed so you can till. Tge plow bracket on back is for a Brinley plow, you can still get them from brinley. Hope this helps a little.
