Your question is too vague. There could be several reasons. Are you getting 12 volts to the coil? Are you getting godd spark at the plug? What is the compression? Are the points working? Please give us some more information.

ser# 6044371
its in a powerking tractor it doesn't have any points it has a stator or something behind the flywheel i cleaned the dust out it looks like new inside. it has a little magnetic swithch on the outside of the flywheel it has a continous row of magnets on the inside of the flywheel it has a coil and someething mounted on the dash looks like sometype of cooling device with a little plastic board with wires and transistors in it. the wiring from the switch is rusted away i dont know how to wire it back up to the new switch it will not fire to the plug i dont know how to get fire to the coil any help would be appreciated . i am pretty familiar with the points system on some small engines like the briggs i cant make this thing run help!!!!

Your Kohler should have the points on the same side as the carb, under a bubble-shaped cover that is held on with 2 screws, located toward the power end of the crankshaft and down in the lower corner of that side of the engine.

A wire leading from the points goes to the - terminal of the coil. The condenser also connects to the - terminal of the coil. The wire coming from your ignition switch connects to the + side of the coil. The spark plug wire comes from the center tower of the coil.

To test current at the coil, get a volt-ohm meter, set it at 12 VDC, and with the ignition switch ON, touch the black lead to the frame or engine and the red lead to the + terminal of the coil. You should get a reading. If not, then bad wires or ignition switch.

Now, touch the red lead to the - terminal. You should get a reading. If no reading, remove the condenser wire and test again. If you get a reading then, coil primary is then good. Condenser is shorted out.

Check the plug wire by setting the VOM to ohms and touching the leads to each end. Should get a full reading.

Check the wire to the points from the coil by rotating the engine til points are open, then touching the red lead to the points terminal and the black lead to ground with ignition switch ON. Should get a reading.

Test the points by removing the wire from the terminal, rotating engine til they close, then setting VOM on ohms. Touch black lead to ground, red lead to the point wire terminals. Should get a full reading (infinity, needle all the way over to spot where it would be if you touched leads together).

It takes about 5 minutes to do these tests, can save a lot of time spent just guessing.

Usually no spark is bad points...burned, oily or somehow not making contact.

The points are on the same side as the carb, as you are facing the carb look down and to the left there is a small cover with the points under it.
What you where describing was the charging system.
