I have a JD 214 when I engage the electric clutch to engage the deck, the engine stops.

There's a good chance the electric clutch is shorted out. :(

Mine does that once or twice a year. If you are lucky, it's just the belt for the deck that has got off track. So far, I haven't had to replace the electric clutch or any blade spindles.

In the deck manual there's a drawing of the proper installation of the belt. The belt routing isn't logical or easy to figure out without the drawing.

If the tractor has a safety feature which shuts off the mower when you get off the seat, that switch may not be working properly and all you have to do is remove it. It should be located under the seat. However keep in mind that the mower blades will continue to turn when you get off of the mower so make certain that you turn off the PPO switch when getting off of the mower when it is running.
