I need help. Some info to start. I have a Murry with a 17.5 hp briggs engine. While wife was mowing the other day it suddenly lost power. When I looked at it it had oil running down the block under one of the cylinders. Of course most of the oil was gone.Let it cool cleaned off engine took covers off and put new oil in. It started right up and ran good for a few minutes then sudden loss of power again. With engine cleaned off ,I could tell the oil was not coming out of the head or the gasket. But was still running down the block under the cylinder. Any ideas where it is coming from? Is this a common problem for this twin cylinder motor. I hope some of you guys have some ideas. Is there some seals or something else that that is leaking when the engine gets hot? Any help is appreciated. Thanks Gerald

Possibly the upper Crankshaft seal but more than likely the block is cracked. One other possibility is that the oil pan bolts have loosened up and the oil pan gasket is leaking. This is a rare condition but I have seen it before. Also the crankcase breather may be plugged this would cause the oil pan gasket to blow out.
