I have been considering buying a finishing mower (Swisher) that is pulled behind a 4-wheeler. I've heard these tend to have some quality issues and will be worthless in a couple of years. My other options are buying a used John Deere rider or a new Huskvarna. Does anyone have any input on this?

I bought a used T60 with Tecumseh supposedly 13hp. the mower is WELL bilt, but it is only a finish mower (read short grass) Deck does not have enough clearance for heavy going, engine needs tobe about 18hp or a different brand. My old JD212 (12HP) with 47" deck will cut much deeper and faster, the T60 is the weak sister. However, I can cut about 1 acre and hour, going around 50 mature trees.

i also bought mine when they still made the 40" cut wish i had gotten the 60" because i ended up modifying mine to be more like the 60" with a tail wheel but past is past and farm&fleet sales peoeple were always dumbasses who new nothing about their products. the only trouble ive had is 1 idler pully and some wiring problems with the safety switch (we don't kneed no stinking safty switch). you may want to spend the money to upgrade to the kohler or honda motor options if they still offer them. the POS briggs&scrap metal engine has ben the source of most of my problems.@#$@#$%@%&*#%~*#brigs &scrapmetal

I have an older Swisher, back when they were a 40" cut, no anti-scalp wheels, no side wheels, and it does a great job. The only thing that it did, and believe they now have fixed that problem, was when the grass was high, it would leave a line of cut grass, sort of like a windrow. I just recut that on the next pass. I set mine on the discharge side of my WH 48" cut deck and either worked from the middle going out on long, straight yards, or "squared" the yard if it was a big square yard. I really like it. It cut my mowing time in half. They are handy if you want to get done quick or have large open areas. The cut quality of my old one is very good.
