Hello, I have a 1996 Craftsman 22.5 Garden Tractor with the Kohler Command engine, one of the large green squared off models. I have two questions I hope someone can help with. First, who makes this tractor? The engine is obviously a Kohler but who makes the rest of the tractor? Second, I have had this problem before but again it is back. The fender/seat metal piece on the back of the tractor is beginning to crack again at the top of the left side fender where it goes over the transmission. I have had this happen twice before, Sears replaced the fender piece but now they will not. This looks like some pot metal piece but is there anything I can do to stop the cracking? I do normally get on the tractor from the left but I am not that big (175lbs) seems this thing should support me.

Thanks for the help.

Doug

It is not your weight, I am (230lbs) mine is a 97 Sears and no cracks yet. And I cut 3 acres with it. However I would weld it just like the other guys said to do. One idea do you cut hills where the tractor is on a lean a lot? Good luck

I believe the manufacturer is AYP Frigidaire Co. You are probably going to need to get yourself a small welder and start repairing it yourself...Good luck Art.

Doug, The first three digits of the model number tells you who the manufacturer is. There's a partial list at planopower.com

Bill, Thanks for the feedback, I went to www.planopower.com but did not see my tractor listed. Are they a manufacturer or parts supplier.

Thanks,
Doug

Doug, I found them doing a google.com search for sears numbers. It looks like they sell equipment and parts. I looked under their faqs "Where can I find who made my sears trimmer, etc.?" What are the first three digits of your model number?
