My brother rebuilt an older Ford lawn tractor he bought at an auction. It has a 48" mower deck. The tractor has been painted and I can not locate the model number. This mower has a Kohler engine model#K321AS spec#60191c and serial#4219700. Is there a way to determine the model number of the lawn tractor from the number on the engine?

The Serial number indicates it's a 1972 engine. It probably has a starter that engages a ring gear on the flywheel. Earlier Ford tractors had Kohler engines with a combination starter/generator that ran off a V-belt. If the tractor has a pipe frame, that would indicate that it is at least a 1972 as earlier tractors had an angle iron frame. K321 indicates a 14 HP engine. Starting in '72, Ford designated their tractors as LGTXXX. For example, LGT120 would be a 12 HP 4 speed tractor, an LGT125 would be a 12 HP Hyrostatic drive tractor, the 5 indicating hydro. I assume that yours is Hydrostatic drive as I believe everything above 12 HP was Hydro. If I'm wrong on that and yours happens to be a 4 speed, then I guess it would be an LGT140. However, I think it will be an LGT145. I have an LGT125 as well as several older models. They are all very well built machines and if given reasonable care, will last virtually forever. Well, a very long time, anyway. After all, there are a lot of them out there still running well like mine!!

Brian I was looking for specs on a Ford Serial # 09JC3205
Kohler K241AS Serial # 7014709

Do you have any idea what year the tractor is?
It does have a pipe frame. Please let me know if there is a place on the internet where you can look up Serial #'s.
Thanks

Sorry, but the #'s on the engine are for the engine only & will not tell you the model # of the tractor.
