I recently bought a 1967 110 in all original condition. It starts and runs great but when you start it, it "puffs" out the dipstick about an inch. If you push back in it seems to stay till the next time it starts. Does not seem to smoke or use any oil. What gives with the belching dipstick?

Sounds like the crankcase vent is stopped up. Or you may have a little blow by gas caused by worn rings. Good luck: Mark

Thanks for responding back. I just got it out this past weekend. I'll do a little checking. It does not seem to smoke or use oil. I'll look at the books, the crankcase breather is under the carb. isn't it? May be a silly question, but always better to ask than screw up too bad.

Yes the crank case vent is connected to the carb. Which motor do you have? Mark

It is the 181 Kohler. 8HP in a 1967 110. Thanks for your help.
