Does anyone know where I can go to get info on a troubled chainsaw? Is there a discussion board like this for chainsaws? Thanks: Mark

Try the chainsaw forum at www.arboristsite.com. You can also try the tech section at www.madsens1.com.

Hard to start and no Idle would tell me that you
probably have a fuel delivery problem. Look at your fuel lines from the tank to the carb. And also look at the vent in your fuel tank. Somewhere
there should be a vent on the fuel tank. Also
check for a good carburator to jug seal if you
do not have a good seal there and are losing vaccum then the saw will not draw up fuel whenyou
try to start it. Other things to check is compression. If the saw does not have at least
80psi compression then it probably will not run
at idle . If you find low compression then pull
the muffler off and look for scoring of the piston
if the piston is scored then its probably junk.
One last thing sometimes I have seen excessive carbon built up around the exhaust port and in the
muffler. If you find this clean it out really good
and replace the muffler. Good Luck RYAN

I have a poulan model 1800 that will not idle. I have put a kit in the carb but it will not adjust out for it to idle. It runs great at high speeds. When you release the throttle it will idle for a few seconds and then dies. When you adjust the idle mixture screw it changes the engine rpm but it still dies. It will crank right back up. It is also hard to start cold. I have also changed the spark plug. Don't know what else to do. Mark

Mark, What is the problem? Most people who work on two cycle engines might be able to help. John
