I have 2 ply tires on the front of my garden tractor with a loader on it. I notice that there is a lot of flexing of the side wall with the loader loaded. What have others found about the tires on their loaders..... what is best? I have found both 4 ply & 6 ply, but the cost is quite differant. Any suggestions where to buy tires cheap? thanks

I do not have a loader yet. But I run a used golf cart tire on the front of my tractor. I get them at my local cart dealer. They service all the area courses and usually have some good take offs at very reasonable prices. (free) They would handle the loads required for a loader.

This is exactly the problem that I presently have.... the tires are the same as the tires on a golf cart..... made for a soft ride. The sidewalls flex so much when there is a load in the bucket, that it seems like the tire will come off the rim...Today, I found some 8 ply tires at a reasonable price and will probably go with them....

What air presure are you running in the fronts? I have a full size Ag tractor with loader and I air the front tires to max. presure. I use the cart tires because I like the floatation qualities when doing garden work.

I put the max pressure in and it is still too soft. It is the sidewall that is flexing and no pressure change is going to stop that. The 8 ply tires are also a flotation tire of the same exact size 18x8.5x8 but have 8 true plies... most tires today are rated at the number of plies, but actually contain less plies. An example is a 2 ply rated tire has only one ply of cord. A four ply rated tire may have as little as 2 plies of cord.
