I"ve got a RUGG Carpet Cut mower from I think th e early 60"s, judging by photos. I"m using it for a racing lawn mower. It was just the right size for the A/P class in the USLMRA. It"s chasis and sheeting were in great shape. I"ve dropped an 8 HP electric-start engine into it instead of the original 5 HP pull-start. I also have a 5-speed tranny instead of the original 1 forward/1 backward tranny. See pics of it at the PA Lawn Mower Racing Association web site below.

We bought one back in 1974. Mowed the lawn once and the tranny went out. If you would send me a pic I could probably tell you if it's the same as ours.

well owning a rugg is a little like owning a 57 panhead 74 harley. they are easy to work on ; wish i had one again, in fact both of them ! they were built in ohio and like cushman eagles , and vesaly "apache" camp trailers they were built to last!!!! guess i have lived to long. parts are still availabe for the tractor. try graininger in k.c. mo. or sell it to me. enjoy as the were a wonderful tractor.
