I'm looking for a little tractor to mainly use for mowing. My price is about $1000. Last year I was looking at the new 3000 cubs but they are just too high. I like the looks of the old 149's and 169's and was curious as to what a decent tractor would run in these models today? I found a 169 that the guy said $1400 and said it was in very good shape. Comes with a 44 inch deck that is also in good shape. I havent seen it yet but I thought his price might be a bit high. I also heard that the 169's are kinda rare and being such the collectors have hiked the price. Any thoughts are guess as to what I might have to give up for one of these or your thoughts on the models themselves would be appreciated.

Where are you located Matt? I know of a really slick 149 that can be had for under $1000. I believe it has a new engine not rebuilt.

A friend of mine has the 149. He bought a big cub machine and the 149 now sits covered in his building. He mentioned he would like to sell it. It is located about 20 mile east of Wichita Kansas. If your interested I will get you his number and you can call him and discuss it.

You might also consider looking at a Cub Cadet 682 or 782. They're not as pricey as a 169; they have two-cylinder engines and hydro transmissions. Check the classified ads at www.ihcubcadet.com.
