I have a Jacobsen garden tractor and it is alot cheaper to buy a small car battery for this then a garden tractor battery. I measured and it will fit just fine, but I was a little concerned about the charging system. Will this battery be too much of a draw for the charging system????

I have been using car batteries in my two garden tractors for about 13 years without any problems. I had one 60 month battery (about $30.00) that lasted 6 and 1/2 years.

guy down the road from me tinkers with old lawn tractors. (he took one with a busted tranny, and mounted the engine to the deck, put wheels on the deck and made a trailer mower.) He has an old sears garden tractor with a battery box and huge 12 volt car battery mounted where the sleeve hitch would go. adds a right far amount of weight over the rear wheels too.

Should not be a problem. Your charging system only has to replace the "Energy" that is drained from your battery when starting, etc. the biggest problem is usually the size of the battery, but if it will fit go for it.
