Did other Small Tractors use the Ross Steering Box and Collom that the Mighty Mite used in 1948? This part dose not seem to be made just for the Mighty Mite and was wondering if other old Tractors used them. Mark H.

Yes I have one I just removed off the 1949 Mighty Mite I was parting out. I just know how they wear out on the 8Ns and thought they did the same time on the smaller tractors to. I have the complete collom minuse steering wheel. I have the wheel but the rubber is missing of of most of it. Email Me. Mark H.

It is a "1949 Mighty Mite Model 10 Ser# 2874" "Ross S13176 DC" that was the number on it. Thanks, Mark H.

Mark, I have a mid 1950's Pond Ride-away Senior and it has the Ross steering gear on it too. I was at a show with it this past weekend and a couple of guys that are into the Crosley cars told me that Crosley also used the sam gear box and wheel. I think several other small tractors used the Ross gear as well. I'm not sure if there was different models or types of Ross steering gears though.

Old model IH Cub Cadets and John Deere 110 tractors used Ross steering boxes.

Where is a good place to sell these kind of parts? They are all good but only people who restore Small tractors could use them. Mark H.

Ross steering gear is still in business and is a division of TRW. They are located in Lafayette, IN and might be able to supply parts in anyone out there that needs something. Their current products are used in the heavy duty truck and larger agricultural equipment markets but they are a pretty low volume outfit so I wouldn't be surprised if they were willing to make up some repair parts if the need was out there.
