I've got a John Deere F525. Great machine, but I would suggest going up to something a little more, like an F911. Gives more differential brakes, diesel, and the rest of the goodies.

Bought a place with a lot of trees to mow around. My old cub low boy just left me with too much trimming to do so I bought a Deines zero turn with a flip up deck. Really like it after 3 years. They are made in Kansas and they have a website. Just do a search for "Deines". The price was considerably lower than other zero turn mowers of the same size. Pete

how about taking a look at the old or new gravely walk behind tractors. the 30" mower deck it easy to clean out and can really cut either grass or brush. i cleaned off some ancillary sections of the yard where the grass was up to my chest. for these gravely's, most all of the attachments hook on the front.

General Electric built a tractor with a front-mount mower called the Elek-Trak. It was a full-blown garden tractor that actually ran on batteries ... quiet, too. Maybe that would meet your needs? ...

They also built the same thing for Wheel Horse. They were built in the mid70's.I have 2 of each.Only one is is in running condition .The others need restored. They would mow about 3 acres on a charge. With all the new battery tech from the auto industy I think it would be a great thing to make again. They had all kinds of attachments for them also.Like mowers, snow blowers, grader blades, welders, fork lifts and others.

Run a tractor then get onto a front mount mower and you feel like you traded in your pinto for a Ferrari. You zip around trees instead of wide or 3-4 point turns. Some of them come with left and right brakes or can be ordered through the parts department like on my Toro 117 Groundsmaster. Can't quite use it as a "garden tractor" though. Also not quite as good on the hills, you tend to sit up a little higher. But for mowing, the only thing better than an out front is a zero turn rider.

Thought seriously about getting one of the Husqvarna front-mount models at Lowes this spring. Wife wanted it, and since she does a lot of our mowing and hates the old Wheelhorse, I had a conversation with the salesman that was less than satisfying. It went a little like this:

"May I help you, Sir?"
"Perhaps; I'm interested in this mower, but I want one that's still in the crate and hasn't been climbed on and played with by a few hundred kids over the last couple of weeks."

"I'm sorry, Sir; that's the only one I have!"
"When will you be getting some more?"
"Not until I sell this one."

"I wasn't able to locate any blades or belts for this mower on your display over there. Do you stock blades and belts for this mower?"
"No, Sir; we do not, but we will soon."

"How soon? Next week? Next month?"
"I really couldn't say....."

"Hmmm...I guess I'd be in bad shape if I bought this and then needed a new blade or broke a belt!"
"You won't break a belt, Sir! I'm certain of that!"

At that point I was certain he wasn't selling me that mower, either! I still like the looks of the thing, and feel it would have done a good job of trimming around all the stuff we have, but I went down the road and bought something else where they stock blades and belts!

You're lucky, the last time I went to Menards I was treated so bad by one of those young hip hop punks I wasn't sure if I was going to get out of there without having an assult charge pinned on me.

I've got a 92 Toro 323D with the 88" flex deck, then only way I can get the deck to flip up and service it is to drive up on my car ramps. After using a mid mount on a garden tractor and a rear mount on an 8N, I prefer the front mount for it is much easier to trim with. If you get a deck that is less than or equal to 72", make sure the deck is offset to one side, it will make it much easier to trim with. Most outfronts will just cover the right front tire for this reason, but lately I've noticed that some manufacturers have centered the rear discharge mowers and claim they can trim on both sides, this only make it more difficult to trim.
