My Model 1811 Cub Cadet dies when it is hot, and won't restart until completely cooled down. I understand that the electronic ignition coil is probably the problem. Can this coil be changed without removing the motor from the tractor?

Check your valve clearance.I have had a few of the older Kohlers act the same way if the valves are too tight. An easy check is to pull a spark plug as soon as it stops & check for spark & compression. That should point out your problem.

Yes and its an easy fix. The Kohler engines are prone to this problem. I had to replace the coil on my 1720 for the same reason last year.
