How do you fix the governor on a 14 1/2 HP vertical shaft lawn mower engine? Mine is running at full throttle and I don't know what to do to fix it. Can someone help me?

With engine off move throttle to wide open position, then loosen nut on governer shaft lever, turn governer shaft counter clockwise with some needle nose pliers (gently though you dont wanna break this cuz then youll be doin a complete teardown) then tighten nut back up. If this doesnt do the trick the shaft or gear might be broken. Then you will deffinately need to do a complete tear down. Hope this helps.

I also have a problem with my governor. I have a Kohler 18 hp K361. I disconnected the linkage from the gov shaft and unscrewed the brass bushing because it was leaking a lot of oil. the gov shafte pulled out a little and when I pushed it back in and connected everything back up the governor didn't work. Did something inside fall off? Can you help me?
