Sounds like it's got a creeper gear, which is a hi-lo transmission ahead of the regular trans. Gives you six speeds forward and two backward. Very handy for rototilling and snowblower work. Also, the other lever could be for a rear p.t.o. Does it have a splined shaft coming out the back of the rear gear housing? If so, this ,(and the creeper) were dealer installed options. The rear p.t.o. is kind of rare, but IH did'nt offer any attatchments to use it with,(it spins the wrong way) but it sure looks cool.

As Joe said, the left one is for a creeper gear, and the one on the right is to engage/dis-engage a rear PTO, if they (levers) are original IH equipment, and not something someone has added to do something else.

Maybe they are wheel brakes?? If it was only 1 on the left I would guess a creeper transmission but 2 is a stumper for me. I have a Sears suburban with indepedant brakes and they are great for plowing and such. keep us informed as to what you find out.

ray,,they are not brakes,,the handle on the left side sits inside a slot cut into the drive-shaft cover, the slot is about 7incges long and that handle would be between the drive-shaft and the frame rail on the left side. the other lever is on the right at the very end of the drive-shaft cover almost as far back as the gear shift and is located on the side of the shaft cover,, not on top, as the left one is.like i say once i get it unloaded and running i`ll find out what they are,but for now, the mystery goes on. thank you
