I want to purchase small tractor (farmall cub looks cool) to trailer and haul my small sailboat 700 lbs about 500 feet down the road to the water. I need to attach winch to haul boat out of water, accross the beach and to the tractor. Is this a good idea? Whats involved in hooking up winch? How much cost and where to find tractor and winch? Thank you...

Get you a good running FARMALL H or M ....can be had for the same money and you won't need a winch....these tractors can pull 3 or 4 boats tied togeather,no problem.....

A Cub should be able to pull the boat and trailer across the sand to the water if you are allowed to drive on the beach. It would depend on the distance you would need to winch the boat to the trailer as to what kind of winch you need. Try looking at Harborfreight.com , they have several winches in their catalog and have been selling a small 12 Volt winch that should work okay for a short distance for about $60 on sale that is supposed to be rated at several thousand pounds of pulling strength.

correct me if im wrong, are you saying you want to pull the boat over the sand to the trailer ????? or are you using a loading ramp ? the cub will pull the boat down the road with no problem, but if your using a loading ramp then i would be alittle consearned about having enough power to pull it up out of the water.as far as a wench goes, maybe an atv wench.
