I have a Cub Cadet 127 Hydrostatic trans. Tractor will not back up when engine is started cold (after 8-10 hr. rest). After the engine has run for a few minutes (1-3) it will back up and is good for the rest of the day. Any ideas as to what could be wrong? The filter and fluid have been changed.

Usually bad pump gets slower as fluid gets warm??

On top of the hydro are 2 valves that screw in...one runs forward, one reverse. Remove them and swap them. Now, if you have the same problem in forward you used to have in reverse, you know that valve is bad. They are available new, around $75-$80. I have had some luck soaking them in PB Blaster and letting them sit to get them unstuck.

OK
Most pumps will work better when cold. I'll see if I can find a repair manual. Thanks.
