Steering was loose but manageable when I got the tractor this spring.Got real hard to steer real fast last time I mowed. Now it has about 1/4 turn of slop and will hardly move the wheels.I can hear it slipping just below the instrument panel.Top nut is tight. What am I looking at as far as parts/availability/price?
Thanks!

You can go ahead and repair the steering gear assembly yourself...it's not rocket science. You ought to have a service manual, available from Cub Cadet at 1-800-800-7310. Then you can order all the parts you need from yer local dealer or Scott Madson at Madson Service, 920-773-2661. You'll have about $30 or so in parts, and it will be good as new. The one thing you may have trouble with is the large nut at the end of the steering box. I remove mine with the flat end of a crowbar, by attaching a Vice Grip to the bar and then inserting the end in the large slot of the nut, then turning it out. Good luck.

Check with the sponsors of the IH Cub Cadet site. One or more of them will completely rebuild the steering gear assembly at a reasonable price- or you can order parts from them, too.
