i know this is somewhat off topic but her goes. i have a 2 year old exmark metro walk behind mower. earlier this month it started slipping in 4 and 5th gears and now it is barely moving. it does not seem to be the brakes or belts but perhaps in the shift box. is there a good way to troubleshoot this problem.thanks in advance for your help.

I am pretty sure that has a peerless transmission in it. If you find it is not your belt slipping, and you can do basic mechanics, go to the website I posted. There is a guy on there that can help you figure out your problem. just post a message, and you will get plenty of help. But if I had to guess I would say either the belt is slipping or possibly the shifter keys are worn.
Also you can go to www.lawnsite.com and there is an exmark forum where you could post your problem and get some help. Later, Chris

hey guys thanks for the contacts and the advice. i checked the belt from the trans to motor shaft and sure enough it had a chunk out of it. i dismissed the belt because originally it only lost the higher gears but obviously the higher gears put a lot more load on the belt especially when starting from a dead stop. now it runs like new with the new belt.
