Definately Cub Cadet. The biggest regret my dad ever had has switching to a JD after 15 yrs with a faithful Cadet. The Cub's attachment system is better, they are easier to maintain, and they sit wider making them safer on hills.

I've had both, and now own Kubotas. If I was to get a different brand it would be Simplicity or Agco Allis. The Simplicity/allis has the best mower deck on the market, the Kubota tractor is indestructable.

JOHN DEERE LAWN MOWERS ARE NO DOUBT THE BEST RIDING MOWERS ON THE MARKET TODAY, BUT THEY ARE A LITTLE PRICEY AND THEY ARE NOT AS HEAVY DUTY AS CUBS ARE (JD HAS A BELT DRIVEN TRANSMISSION WHEAREAS CUBS HAVE A SHAFT DRIVEN TRANSMISSION. I HAVE A JD "SABRE" 13HP 38" FOR SALE RIGHT NOW AND IT RUNS PERFECT BUT THE ONLY REASON THAT I AM SELLING IT IS BECAUSE I WANT TO GET A MOWER THAT IS A LITTLE MORE HEAVY DUTY (LIKE A SHAFT DRIVEN CUB). SO IF I WERE YOU, ID GET THE CUB. GOOD LUCK!

I sure like those new Cubs, very heavy duty, and I thought the price was relatively better than the J.D.

I suppose this is a supurflouous suggestion, Is the fluid level up to full? Is it possible that the oil filter is clogged?
