I dont want to be rude, but according to serial number data the model 70 did not get produced until 1963. Check out IHcubcadet.com, the home page list's the starting serial numbers for each year and also what year each tractor came out. Those guys over there should be able to give you an aproximate value of what things are worth. Have a good one.

Depends upon where you are in the country. Duals if original equipment increase value as does the blade. If it runs it's another plus. If everything is there and sheet metal is straight, another plus. You might want to sell some things separate (i.e dual spacers) unless you have papers showing that the rig was all bought at once. $600 or more is realistic . . . someone would probably pay more if it's what they want. You can always start higher and come down if you have to.

If your friends Cub Cadet was bought in 1962, it is what is commonly called, an Original model, and not a model 70. The beginning serial number for the model 70/100 Cub Cadet's, is 65458, and that number was not built until August 1963, probably the last week of August. An Original COULD, be worth more than a 70, and a low serial number for the model, could be important to a collector. The S/N for either will be STAMPED into the right side of the transmission or gear reduction housing, in numbers about 1/8"-3/16" high. If in the gear reduction housing on the front of the transmission, they will be in a vertical line. May have to do some cleaning and scrapeing to see the numbers. The raised number on the side of the trans that starts with 3 and ends with R1 is the part number of the casting, and not the S/N.
