Hello. New to the forum. I just bought an Allis Chalmers 914-S. It came with a snowthrower, 40" (or so) deck, leaf vac attachment and a beat up Dump cart (Highwalled for the leaf vac), and a few spare belts. I paid $650 for the package. Tractor is in very good shape. Did I pay the going rate or did I over pay? Bottom line is I love the tractor so personally I am happy with the price.

I need help in getting info/diagram as to how to mount and run Snow thrower. Anybody have info? Also advise as to things I need to watch out for to keep tractor running strong. Maintenance schedules etc. I am new to tractor ownership so I appreciate any and all advice no matter how basic. Did I mention I really like my tractor?

OK, so I guess I got a good deal. I live on Long Island NY, but traveled to Connecticut to get it. I did some leaf work yesterday and I was amazed at what a beautiful job it did on cutting the grass, cleaning up the leaves. I am no tractor expert but the 914 is so solidly built. At 20 Years plus it sounds and drives as well as most brand new tractors.

No for my next deal my brothers neighbor is giving me their old Bolens Husky 1256 Hydro. I want to restore it, never taken on a project like this before but why not? One tractor for front yard and one for back yard.

The Bolens is a tough old machine, great for tilling, plowing, etc. But, in my biased opinion, nothing cuts like a Simplicity (or a Simplicity-made Allis) like you've discovered....

If you need help with it, or just looking for more info and a great group of folks, come join us....
