Looking at replacing my ailing Cub 1720 lawn tractor with a year 2000 Cub Cadet 2130. The unit I'm looking at has 450 hours and looks great. Any comments on worthiness of the newer Cub models? What would be an acceptable price for the above listed 2130.

Also, is there a market for a 1986 Cub 1720 in need of about $50 in parts and $300 in labor to replace a "drive cup"?? on the tranny. 17hp Kohler runs like a top, no oil consumption, 38" mower deck with mulching kit. Looking at selling for parts if it's not worth repair. Any ideas of where I should post?

Thanks

Gary, I've been completely through dozens of 1720 style transaxles and have yet to get $300 labor in one here at the shop. Someone is taking you for a ride! Anyway, I have been around the 2130since they came out and they are a good mower.
It will out last the 1720 providing it has been maintained in the past. 450 hrs is nothing to worry about. Just remeber to keep the drive pedal fully depressed while driving, and the clutch packs will last a lifetime.

Just bought a Cub Cadet 2130 AGS w/ twin
bagger. Deck is in fair condition. Lady I
bought it from had gotten gas with water in
it. I gave $250.00 for it. Put new spark plug
and fresh gas with a little aicohol and she fired up. I wish I had find mower, before I purhased
a new John Deere in May.
