A friend of mine is looking for plans for a snow blade. We can rig up the lift part, does anyone have plans for the actual blade? Thanks! Fireman

I made a snow blade using a plastic barrel. I used angle iron on top and bottom and welded flat straps 20" apart to the angle irons across the back for support. Works great and haven't had any problems with snow sticking to the blade.

I am using a 7 foot set of doubled up 2X10's (pressure treated) and I have bolted it to channed Iron, it doesnt scrap very good but it pushes heavy deep snow quite well on my IH-H.

You all have given me food for thought. Now to scour the neighborhoods for an old water heater...

I made a blade from a longitudinal section of a 40 gal water heater tank. I welded a 1/4" thick steel rib on the back of each end and across the length of the bottom to strengthen and allow attachment points. I cut it with a plasma cutter, though if you're determined, you could do it with a recip. saw.

The curved parts of a used gas or oil tank makes a good blade.

I made a blade about five years ago. took a piece of 15" diameter PVC sewer pipe 42" long. cut into 3 equal pieces and ended up with a blade that is about a foot tall. bolted a steel cutting edge across the bottom and works great for snow.
