I have a 1998 Craftsman Lawn Tractor 16.5 Hp Model number 917.271120. I know snowblower attachments are available for this model from Sears. So far it has served me well mowing over 2 acres. Now I am wanting to buy a snowblower attachment for it. Is the tractor capable of powering and effectiving handling the attachment? Is Sears the only place that handles snowblower attachments that would fit this tractor? Could a MTD, Murray, Yardman snowblower attachment bolt up?

Jim, I don't know much about craftsman, never had one, but have researched their tractors as I am getting ready to purchase. I copied and pasted the specs. link for your mower, hopefully it will work. If not just go to sears.com and you can locate the specs page for your tractor there, if you want to. I would say that whatever attachments they say in the specs the tractor can handle then it should do so. If its not listed then probably won't work. As for MTD or others adapting to craftsman to work ?, I can't answer that, maybe someone else will that knows more about it. Whatever you do though, whether you are buying a snowblower or blade, you defintley should go the extra and buy wheel weights and chains. Good Luck :)
