I might be in the market for a single cylinder engine (gas, petrol depending which side of the Atlantic you were born on!) between 5 and 6 hp. I know you guys will probably say "Its got to be Japanese these days"( on the other hand I might get a surprise and you say get a Briggs and Stratton ) but which one? Honda? Kawasaki? Kubota? or are they all 'about the same'. Anybody any thoughts?

Thanks George, I was talking to a Guy last night and we were both singing the praises of the Kubota, as he had the same 5.5hp engine as I have on my power washer. We were saying how the Japanese have got the small engine market virtually licked, He was telling me that a friend of his refers to a 'certain make of engine of American extraction' as "Briggs and Scrap em!"
take care, Roy.

Thats right Roy, they are cheap enough that when they wear out, you throw them away! The engineering and the machining of the Japnese motors is so much better, it's kinda like comparing a Harley to a Honda! (ducking)
