Electrical problem on Wheelhorse 8-312

Just put new short block on and hooked everything back up wasy I took off. Turn the switch on to start nothing happen. Can jump across and make starter spin but didn't engage. Any ideas as to what is wrong?

Sounds like two problems .
1) The trigger wire to the solenoid is not getting current . Check the wires from the ignition switch to the soleniod for being cut.
2) The starter bendix needs to be cleaned . Move the starter gear back and forth a few times .
Also make sure all the ground connections are clean .
