Time for a rebuild! Just make sure you follow the directions for adjusting the clutch.

you can adjust the clutch buy turing the turn buckle on the right side of the tractor. The engaged air gap should be .020 of an inch. If you need to rebulid your dealer just needs to know you have a 147 they all used the same clutch. A kit can be had for about $30 not eveything is in the kit so beware.

if you need more help try ihcubcadet.com or e-mail me

their are two set of set screws that hold the clutch on you can take grill out and if you hold your mouth right you can get in there first make sure the release button is letting the clutch engage if is then the clutch must be slipping now to take out those two set of set screws the driveing plate has three u notches that will allow you to get to them soake the with your best panther juice when you get them out you will notice that three of them are pointed thats what puts the clutch in the right place take it to your cub dealer just to make sure you get the right parts a gauge comes with the kit for adjustment might want to replace brg while your at it

Hey there, Bruce, I ain't heard "panther juice" since I worked in the small engine shop with ol' Gene Wagner from Missouri. He used to call WD-40 "panther pee." Of course, that was back when WD-40 was worth a durn. Thanks for the memory! :-)
