I have a similiar problem, but the repair place says it's worn clutch plates and I need a clutch kit.
I was wondering if it would be better in the long run to try and get a Hydro gear transaxle and replace the auto gear?

I recently bought a 2130 with "auto gear system" that seems to leak trans oil from the dipstick and has a lot of air bubbles in the oil. It only has 130 hours on it, and so far the trans seems to pulll ok, but it has me wondering...Please forward me if you find out what the problem is-- I am trying to find out if what I am seeing is normal, or an indication of trouble to come.

Paul

Paul, I had a dealer rebuild clutch for $240 and I'm not totally happy with it,but time will tell. On the dipstick I wrapped it with electrical tape
to stop leakage around housing. Oh and another dealer said he didn't mess with rebuild of clutch as it wasn't worth the hassle.
New clutch assembly $342. And I do all the work. BC

I can't claim to know much about these, but the problem you describe would indicate a faulty hydro valve on the older models. Sometimes with an older one, you can get the valve to reseat by just slamming back into reverse, then slamming it into forward on grass or gravel.

Easy check on the older ones is to remove the 2 valves (one for forward, one revrse) from the top of the hydro and swap them. If the problem transfers to the opposite direction, there you have it.

Hope this helps with yer newer one. you might also ask yer question in the CCC/MTD Built Cub Cadet topic at www.ihregistry.com/discus. You can open post there.
