Have a 129 Hydro Cub Cadet with the K301 engine. Need more power Scotty!! I tore it down to the bare frame so I can sandblast and paint it. While the engine was out I thought I might like to retro another engine into it with a minimum of sweat. I placed a VG4 Wisconsin onto the frame to see what it looked like, kinda cool, but a little ridiculous. What would you suggest would be a good engine swap, has anybody ever stuck a Wisconsin in a Cadet? Maybe a small diesel? Any suggestion would be appreciated. Also would like to replace the mower deck, it has the stock 3-blade 42", any suggestions? Thanks.

E-Z swap? Get a Kohler 16 hp, swap the frnt plate, flywheel and shroud for the smaller ones off the 12 hp, and set it in there.

Next hardest? Get a Command V-twin, slap it in there. Mounts and driveshaft hookup are the same. there are a couple wiring issues, and the hood may have to be notched for the heads. you'd have to figure an exhaust, or stacks.

Jason. I also have a 129. The engine need rebuilt, but am thinking of putting a 3cyl engine out of 85 chevy sprint. The engine is 49hp suzuki [sp]. Think it would look good and run great. Roger
