Just got a Woods 1850 Mow'n Machine. The engine is rough shape, with a broken camshaft and a scored journal on the crankshaft. This is a horizonally opposed twin, horizontal crankshaft engine, splash lubrication, cast iron sleeve. Model #422437. Anyone have any used parts for this type of engine? Also, do other Briggs models use the same parts?

I need a cross referance for a rc12yc spark plug for an 181/2 hp craftman mower, model no.917.270760. Briggs & stratton eng-model no. 407777, type no. 0121-E3. Cannot find this plug anyplace except Sears, and they have to order it at a higher cost, plus shipping charges.
thanks

You can go to Briggs website and download illustrated parts breakdowns of just about any briggs motor and they usually combine alike models. Go to www.briggsandstratton.com, log in under North America, then select "Engine Support and Maintenace", "Manuals, Videos and Books", then "Parts List". You then will be able to put in your model number and type and view all the parts and numbers for the items. You might also try ebay. Always used and new small engine parts on there. The crank can be turned .020 under and runs about $15-$30 at machine shop. If it isnt scored and is just bearing material (babbit) you can polish it up using emery cloth. I looked on www.jackssmallengines.com and a cam is around $50 for your engine. That is a good place to go to to put in part numbers and get a good idea how much everything is under thier parts database. Hope this helps, Jeremy
