A lady next door removed the 'shield' on her rider this morning because she couldn't get a wrench on the spark-plug ... the bolts she removed to remove the shield were the head-bolts (I believe there were 6 of them.) Does anyone have any idea what the torque values and pattern is for the following B&S engine: It's a Md. #: 253707 and the type is: 0144-01 ... the Code # is: 84011810 ...

Also: The plug that 'was' in the head was damaged (the ceramic insulator was broken off) so the only # left was the digit "8" ... the replacement plug she had was an "RJ19LM" ... is this the proper plug for her engine and if it is, what the gap for this thing? 0.030? 0.025? 0.035?

Thank you.

Plug is Champion J-8, Autolite A71, or AC GC46. Gap to .030. Head torque is 165 in-lbs (inch-pounds). Early models used 8 cap screws while later models used 9 cap screws. After tightening, start and run the engine 5 minutes, then retighten to specificaitons. This should be an eleven horsepower engine.
