I took the PTO off my tractor and now i have another one to put on. I used Gear Pullers to get it off. How do i get the other one on with out doing any damage to the crankshaft. I don't dare to drive it on with a hammer. HOW?

Steven, Make sure you sand the inside of the pto that sits on the bearing and put a light coating of grease or never-seize on the bearing. It should slip right on and put the pointed screws in just finger tight as they don't lock onto the bearing, they come down behind the bearing, then put the jamb screws in but don't overtighten them either. Make sure you gease these up so they don't get rusted in.

Actually, if the bearing is still on the shaft, it should just slip right on. On the old one,did you take out all six set screws? There are two set screws per hole. The furthest one in is pointed, and holds the clutch to the bearing. The bearing has a concentric locking collar that locks it on the shaft. I'd change the bearing while your in there too.

If it has a keeper bolt threaded in the end of the shaft just tighten the bolt down and it will push it on. You can tap it on with a hammer using a wood block as a buffer, just don't us a lot of force.
