I have a late seventies briggs and straton engine on a tiller i just replaced the magneto or coil the points and condensor before that I would turn the engine over with my hand holding the plug wire and I would not get shocked. After replacing everything from above I am getting a pretty good shock from the plug wire after turning over the engine but I cannot find a plug not even a new one to produce a spark.

The gap between the Coil and flywheel should be about the size of a note card ,and check the connection to the end of the plug.

Are you holding the plug against the block? The plug will not spark unless it is grounded.
