Colt Hydrostat

I've got a mid-'60s Colt Super tractor with a hydrostatic drive. I had rebuilt the engine, and thought while I'm at it I'll change the hydro fluid. Before the fluid change, when I would roll the tractor in neutral, I could hear a "clunking" in the rear end that sounded like a lever falling from gear to gear. I drained it and put in 10 quarts of 20W-50. Now, it sounds louder, and I can also hear it under power a little bit. Is this something to be concerned with? I don't have a manual for the hydro drive, don't really know how it's put together.

Thanks for any advice!

Jeff

The oil you put in is a little heaver than what they recommend, they originally asked for Shell Rotella 20w40, now you can only get Shell Rotella 15w40 T, you may want to drain the oil and take the top off of the rear axle housing and check if anything is going on in there that shouldn't be, also there is a screen in one of the fittings on the front of the rear axle thay should be cleaned.
