Just bought a restored 128 and want to know if anyone has come up with a neat gaget, strap, chain, or some type of bungee cord to keep the hood nose from bumping the front casting when it is opened all the way. Seems like there ought to be a way to do it effectively. It should be mounted under the hood somehow. Any ideas?

You can use a piece of "U" shaped rubber channel. Place it over the edge of the hood which comes in contact with the cast iron front end. This material comes in clear or color(s). I'm not sure if white is available. This does protect the paint on the hood as long as you don't let it "slam" against the iron. Soures are Grainger, MSC or McMaster Carr. Good luck.

I've thought about using a very short piece of cable with two eylet connectors on the ends, under the bolts that hold the hinge. One on each side. You don't want to use anything long under the hood, because when you close it, the cable or wire or whatever, will get in the pulleys or the pto clutch.
