I have a 70s era Dayton 16HP tractor with a hydorstatic drive transaxle. It was made by MTD and sold through Granger supply and I have seen the same tractor sporting different names. Does anyone know what kind of transaxel it has and where I can get specs for it? Granger was no help.

Michael,
I have a '77 DAYTON completely restored and it has a MARSHALMATIC M10 Hydrastatic transaxle assembly. You'll find that Grainger never had anything to do with this GREAT little tractor. If you are looking for parts, you will need a parts list (I have one and can send a copy)and "most" of the parts can be purchased through:
BILLIOUS in Porterville, California, Ph: 1-877-245-5468.
Hope this info isn't too late.

I found the answer, the transaxle is a Peerless model 2503 and the hydrostatic pump is a Marshallmatic M-10 model 717-0344.
Thanks for all the help everone.

I always thought it was a Sunstrand, but I'm told it isn't. The Jacobsen/Fords of that era use the same hydro rearend. You might check with a Ford/New Holland dealer for the specs.
