I have a Fairbanks Morse 3 wheel riding mower. It has 1 blade and a 3 or 3.5 hp engine mounted under the front of the seat. It is a pull start. The 3 wheels are hard rubber. There is a chrome handlebar type thing rather than a steering wheel. There are fenders over the rear wheels. It is chain drive. It is missing the seat, a belt, and the blade. It is made of very heavy metal and weighs well over 100 pounds. It is blue in color and has very little surface rust and no dents. Does anyone know the value of this or if it is worth restoring? What year it was made? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Try the other mower forum, they talk more about the older stuff. I don't know what its worth. But I think it would be a shame to scrap something that old and unique. Also try yahoo groups. They probably have a group for FM tractors. FYI Fairbanks Morse made other stuff, Diesel locomotives. I know one if not all of their locomotives had engines that had 2 pistons per cylinder. Their was two crankshafts, one on top, one on bottom connected by gears. Two pistons faced each other in each cylinder. The valves must have been somewhere in the center of the bore. I think it was a good engine but the configuration made it hard to maintain in a locomotive configuration. Enough said.
