Hi, I have an E-Z-GO Truckster 295cc (not a mower I know, but I don't know where else to go).
It runs fine but will not move forward or reverse. Clutch and belt seem to work fine but gears (differential) don't seem to engage. I can rev it up and it just sits. Diff.oil is fine. Belt fine. Does this sound like the differential is shot?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Crutch - Atlanta (94 GXT 804D E-Z-GO Truckster)

i`ll be honest with ya , i have no idea what a ez go is,,,,but if it is like clark forklift with a hydro-trans, and has a forward and reverse [turn signal-style ]switch to actuate it frwd. or revvr. with a dead battery the alternator has enough power to run the motor but not to actuate the trans control.it sits like the trans is blown.

I believe you have a fwd/rev control? Is this set up like the golf cart with start&go pedal?I find it hard to believe sudden failure of driveline without warning,Perhaps the fwd/rev selector linkage or driveline engagement of whatever type it has "broken",(broken cable, disconnected link rod, park lock engaged)

I had the same problem with my ez-go and nine times out of the its the splines on the axel that go into the brake drum. Take off the dust cap on both axles (the center of the rim, should be silver in color). Put the cart in neutral, then press on the gas while someone else is looking at the axel nut on both sides. If you see one side or the other, the nut should not move. If it is, well then; you have a striped axle spline. Very easy to fix if you know a little about mechanics and cheep in price as well, for the most part. The axel is around 50$ and same goes for the brake drum. Will take about an hour or so to do. You can find these parts at buggiesunlimited.com and feel free to ask them for technical help if you need it, very helpful people. Hope this helps if you still have the cart.
