Hey All;
I am hoping I am in the right arena here for this old tractor. I received my antique Bready Walk Behind Garden Tractor from my Aunt and Uncles Farm. I would like to restore it. I work on the Old 2 cyl JD's, but have never really tinkered with the little single cyl engines. I am also going to be in search of some parts as well for the engine. It is a briggs and stratton, vertical cylinder. I has a reduction gear box on the right side facing the rear of the unit. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Eric

The handles and inplements were orange. The clinton engine was green or black,and the frame was black

I have an old walk-behind tractor which I got from my fathers place in Quebec. I have used it for the last 4 years and it works great. I only recently found out it may be a Bready. It was purchased in the 1950's at Simpsons Sears. How did you know it was a Bready, and is there a way to tell if There is no Name on the machine. I was able to trace the Wisconsin motor to 1951. If you or anyone else can shed some light on this I would appreciate it. I also have some picture I can send if it would help ID it. PS I guess I too am hoping I am in the right arena.

I have a Bready it has a serial number plate on the left side near the rear of the walk behind tractor, mine has a chilton single cylinder motor. I will get it out of the shed this weekend and take a few photos or this tractor, I also have a David Bradley,I am planning to restore the Bradley and when there is time I will work on the Bready.

Hi I can help you with it, very cool little tractor. Give me a minute to big up some info one it. If for some odd reason, I forget to check back, drop me a line, I have almost a dozen vintage garden tractors and my general knowage is pretty good.

PS By tommorrow, I'll have you the horse power, and so far, I think it's a 6:1 gear reducer. When you refer to these engines, you refer to the shaft, (not the piston) ie a horizontal shaft Briggs. (in your case a cast iron one. nice)
