I am restoring my first case and I think I just found out what all the 446 complaints are about... the low range seems too slow, and the high too high! Are there any gearing changes out there which would drop the high range down a little? Thanks! Jim

Never had a problem with the gear ratio in mine but then it was the first garden tractor I've ever owned. When tilling I usually run it in the retard position. There was a flow valve option that would could be put on these that would really slow them down, only problem was they affected the hydraulic lift and you need to advance the flow control inorder to raise the implement. The only problem I encountered was when the hydraulics were set to the Case specs, my tractor would run very hot, so hot that once I was operating during a light rain and the rain drops would sizzle when they hit the floor board. That was resolved by setting the main hydraulics to 2500 psi and the lift to 1000 psi. I also put a cut down grille out of a Case 1070 in it inplace of the slats. The grille gave it a 10 on the cool lookin factor. Even fooled a customer with it once when I worked at a Case dealership in that he wanted that style of 446.
