I just picked up a Cub Cadet Original. Does anyone have any experience restoringone of these.I would love to re-paint it etc. Any input would be appreciated.

Are these good tractors? I just want to pull my small wagon, aerator, and maybe pick up a blade for it.

Thanks.

Congradulations on your buy!!

Excalent choice for a garden tractor. I am in the process of restoring one. It doesn't take much to disassemble an original. They are a rugged yet simply built tractor. For paint (if you use spray cans) we used B.P.S International harvester white (available at T.S.C is actually almost a cream) also caterpiller yellow almost perfectly matches the yellow on the tractor, We used a graphite blaster at my grandfathers factory to clean it. If your paint on the side that says Cub International Cadet is worn replacement stickers are available on E-bay.

Good luck

Great tractors. Tough as nails. Here's a couple of sites to get you started:

Enjoy your Cub - it's a great little tractor!

Very nice tractor!!! And worth restoring. I think Yahoo has a group dedicated to the cadets for more info. I know you can find parts for these. As far as restoring, break it down as far as you want, degrease, pressure wash, sandblast, prime and paint...(I'm really consolidating here) and enjoy, good luck and if I can help any furter, let me know.
Regards,
Adam P
