hi i was just wondering if i could change my high lift blades to mulching blades.I know that the blade is what makes a mulching mower a mulching mower. The problem is I cant find any blades for my size deck.I find every size around it but cant find 40".So I was wondering if I could change them up because Im sick of racking up the grass when Im done mowing and the mulching would cut it in to little peaces so i wouldnt have to.I dont think it would cause a problem unless you guys would see one.let me know wut you think.

In addition to what the other posters have said. With a closed outlet chute for mulching quite a bit more HP is required when mulching. I have a 6hp self propelled mulcher. If I let the grass get too tall I have to open the chute and rake afterwards.

It takes more than blades to change a mower to a mulcher, You must install some type of cover(kit) to close the opening and keep the grass under the mower deck, it also does require different blades, Mulching is a excellent idea but it does require more attention to mowing, must mow when dry to do a good job and should mow more often. Tall grass will just not chop up enough to disappear.

I've been using Gatorblades for years. I have to cut tall wet grass and they do a fantastic job with it. Other so-called "mulching" blades are a joke but Gatorblades mulch anything.
