I recently received a clean low hour Case 224 tractor from a neighbor. Unfortunantly, I'm having trouble getting the engine mounted p.t.o. clutch to engauge and turn the mower. The linkage and associated parts appear to work fine but the cluch seems loose as if it needs to be tightened up. Question? Is there an adjustment on this clutch, how does it work ect. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated. Also, anyone out there have service manuals for this machine priced reasonably let me know. Thanks, Tom

If its a late model, they are easy to adjust. All you need is a feeler gauge. the easiest way is to remove the hood via the pivot pin, remove the three sheet metal screws that hold the radiator in place, swing out the radiator and loosen the fan bolt. Now you can tighten the big adjuster nut until there is .007 to .010 gap between the friction disk and the flywheel. tighten eveything back up and check the clutch operation. Good luck.

Yes if you look at the assembly you will see that there is a big hex nut that you can put a wrench on and tighten the assembly. You should feel the tension if it is a manual clutch, it should have a tension point about half way in the motion when you go to engage the clutch and then snap in nicely. Service manuals are easy to come by and a reletivley cheap. Find your nearest Ingersoll dealer and order them out.
