I've got a broken bolt that holds the rear axle in the frame of my 1863 cub cadet. The bolt goes through the frame of the tractor, through the axle carrier and into the differential housing to hold it tight. I need to pull the right axle and axle carrier off so that I can remove the broken off bolt. My question is - how do I pull the axle out of the differential? I've got the axle carrier loose, but I can't seem to pull the axle out. Is there a snap ring or capscrew that holds the axle into the differential? Or do I just need to pull harder to get the axle out? Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure of the rear end in your tractor but I think by the sounds of your problem it is a lot like the old cub cadet 125, etc. I have fixed the broken bolt problem on 2 of them. You need to remove the rear cover and drain out all the fluid. There is a small snap ring on the end of the axle. Pretty easy to do.
